October 17, 1897 ~ August 2, 1990 (age 92)
Mrs. Griffith was born in Atlantic, Iowa on October 17, 1897. She arrived in Oregon in 1909 and taught elementary school in Eastern Oregon before her marriage to Willard I. Griffith on August 18, 1917. The couple owned and operated Riverview Abbey Mausoleum Co. for many years. She had served as secretary, director and president of the company before her retirement in 1988.
Mrs. Griffith attended Hinson Memorial Baptist Church for many years. In 1948, Mrs. Griffith became a founding member of Burlingame Baptist Church and continued to be active in the church for many years. Mabel was a strong supporter of missions.
Mabel was an accomplished landscape artist and a long-term member of Delphium.
She was survived by her daughter, Estelle Barbur, and her son, Norman N., both of Portland; seven grandsons; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Alice and husband Willard Griffith.
The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the mission fund of Burlingame Baptist Church.
A funeral was held at 4pm August 4, 1990 in the chapel of Riverview Abbey Funeral Home. There was a private entombment following the service in Riverview Abbey Mausoleum.
