Marilyn Hart Obituary

Marilyn Eleanor Hart, age 84, passed away in the care of her loving family Aug. 8, 2022, in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

Marilyn grew up in Saint Louis, Mo., with her parents, Dorothy and Albert Hager, and her brother, Roger. Her mother, a librarian, inspired her to be an avid reader and her father taught her to love baseball and other sports. Her family instilled a strong Christian faith in Marilyn, which she used to show love and support for so many in her life. She graduated from the University of Missouri where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and a student athlete, participating on the women’s basketball and field hockey teams. It was there that she met and fell in love with her husband of over 60 years, Glenn Hart. Marilyn and Glenn moved to Oregon soon after marrying and ultimately settled in the Lake Oswego community, where they raised their three children, Doug, Jennifer and Brad, as well as seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

After establishing their family, Marilyn and Glenn founded OrePac Building Products, a building material supplier that serves the Western United States. In addition to being a wonderful mother, Marilyn was a special education teacher and was active in her community, serving as the PTO President at Lakeridge High School, a Counseling and Prayer Minister at her local church and longtime member of PEO, Chapter ED. In her spare time, Marilyn loved playing tennis and golf, as well as playing Bridge, Pitch and other card games. Marilyn loved her family and friends deeply and was loved by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Aug. 19, 2022, at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow. If you would like to honor Marilyn, her family asks that you make a donation to the OHSU Layton Center’s Fund for Caregivers which supports families across all stages of dementia.
