February 7, 1921 ~ April 30, 2023 (age 102)
Maryetta Foley died peacefully April 30, 2023, at the age of 102 at L&C Adult Care Home in Milwaukie, Ore. We are very grateful to Leea, Lidia, and Tenderly Hospice for the professional and loving care they gave to Maryetta.
She was born and raised in La Grande, Ore., and moved with her family to Portland in 1940. She was employed in various Federal Government agencies for 33 years including the Department of the Interior as it established several of the Columbia River dams. She retired in 1976.
She was a devoted companion her entire life to her sweet sister Zibby who was blind. The sisters lived together for many years at Calaroga Terrace and attended Mass daily across the street at Holy Rosary Church. In 2016 the sisters were able to continue living together at Comfort Living Senior Care in Happy Valley, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome J. Foley and Mary L. Foley (Cullen); her sister, Elizabeth M. Foley “Zibby”; and her cousin, Tom Foley and his wife, Marjory. She is survived by her cousin’s adult children, Tim, Bill, John, and Annette.
The Mass will be offered at 11 a.m., May 24, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 11709 S.E. Fuller Road, Milwaukie, OR, preceded by the rosary at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery, 11666 S.E. Stevens Road, Happy Valley, OR.
