Monica Noel died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023 of natural causes in her 100th year.

She was born Aug. 22, 1923 to Anna Kelly Foy and James Foy in Vienna, S.D. She was one of two. Her twin Veronica died in 1996.

Monica worked at the Federal Reserve Bank, the Corps of Engineers and the Veterans Administration. It was there she met her husband Glenn.

She loved visiting with family and friends. She had friends of all ages. Her warm smile and Irish laughter made everyone feel welcome.

After Glenn retired, they spent time each year traveling the country and making new friends.

Monica loved the Trail Blazers. On televised game nights she would be cheering loudly from her recliner. She was proud to be an Irish American and a Democrat through and through! She was warm, funny, always optimistic and interested in everyone she met. Monica never forgot a name – ever.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Noel. She leaves behind her son, Dan McArthur; grandson, Dylan McArthur; step-grandchildren, Trista Hertz, Scott Noel, Josie Murillo; nieces and nephews, Suzanne, Bill and Sandy Tamiesie, Dianna Hubbard, David and James Jones; and many dear friends,

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Jan. 30, 2023, at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 4567 S.W. Nevada St., Portland, OR. A reception will follow in the church community room.
