Myron LaHood Obituary

Myron G. LaHood was born to George and Bessie LaHood on June 23, 1917, in Butte, Montana. He was the youngest of seven children. His parents; brother; and five sisters all preceded him in death.

Myron went to school in Butte, Montana. After graduating, he joined the army, where he played in the army band. When he completed his time in the army he went to work for the Montana Mines.

He left Montana and came to Portland, where he lived with his sister. He made his home in Portland and worked as a musician, playing the clarinet and saxophone in many bands until he retired. He loved to be called “Uncle Myron” and had several nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. Yet he always held a very special place in his heart for his niece, Barbara Harris, who was like a daughter to him.

In his last years, Myron found great joy in his weekly visits from the Sisters of the Holy Spirit. We will always be grateful for the kindness and love they showed him. Myron passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of July 18.

A rosary will be said on Wednesday, July 24, at 6:15 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 6:30 p.m., at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.

Private entombment, Mt. Calvary Mausoleum. Riverview Abbey Funeral Home, Directors.
