Myrtle Cappa Obituary

Myrtle M. Martine was born on June 23, 1907 in Moravia, Idaho to Isaac & Kathleen Martine. They moved to Montana where Myrtle was educated along with her six siblings. The family moved to Portland where she lived until she died on June 30, 2012.

Myrtle had just celebrated her 105th birthday with a party in her honor with many family members. Myrtle died one week later in her recliner with The Oregonian on her lap.

Myrtle credited her good health to being raised in Montana and being active in sports including basketball, tennis and swimming. She loved to swim at the MAC club several times a week.

Myrtle worked for Roy Burnett Motors for many years. During this time in her life she met the love of her life—Lawrence Cappa. Myrtle and Larry worked hard to start Lawrence Northwest– a company that succeed with hard work from the two of them. After retirement the company was sold to an employee.

Every part of Myrtle’s life centered on “family.” No matter what was happening her family came first. She was an elegant hostess whether it was family or business—she made everyone feel comfortable & welcomed.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Cappa and her six siblings. She is survived by 10 nieces & nephews. Father Ed Altstock, Mary Barbara Van Buren, Fran, Anne & Gail Cappa, Myrna Hunter, Phyllis Maynard, JoAnn Henderson, Jeff Martine & Tom Martine.

Myrtle requested donations be sent to the St. Vincent de Paul.

Our family would like to thank Dorin & Mariana Cosma for taking such good care of our aunt.

Myrtle’s funeral service will be on July 9th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church. Private entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be on July 8th from noon to 4:00 pm.
