Nancy Louise Wright (Tucker) aged 93, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, in Happy Valley Oregon. She was born to Kathryn Thompson Hall on August 6, 1930, in Spokane, Washington. She and her mother spent her early childhood years in Klamath Falls, Oregon and then moved to Hermiston, Oregon where she graduated from high school. She moved to Portland in her early 20’s where she met her husband William and raised her two boys. Nancy led a life marked by devotion to her family, a passion for politics, and a love of travel.
Nancy was immensely proud of her heritage as a descendant of the founders of the University of New Hampshire, a legacy immortalized by the naming of Thomson Hall after her family. She cherished memories of traveling to the Grand Tetons with her late husband, William Ralson Wright, and their family, often remarking it as the most beautiful place on earth.
Her political fervor was ignited during her younger years while campaigning for Robert Kennedy. Nancy’s professional life was characterized by her roles as an administrative assistant at Meier & Frank, Western Electric, and Charles T. Main. She took great pride in her career, balancing professional responsibilities with her role as a dedicated mother to her two sons, Fred and David Wright, whom she raised with steadfast love and attention.
She remained active in her community through various endeavors, including her cherished time at St. Matthews Anglican Church. Her hobbies included cooking and traveling, pursuits that brought great joy throughout her life.
She is survived by her sons, Fred Wright and his wife Sue, David Wright and his wife Julie, grandchildren Aimee Manley, Michelle Garner, Joel Wright, Ashley Wright, Tabitha Yoast, Melissa Yoast-Walters, Tyler Yoast and nine great grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Ralston Wright.
Services to honor Nancy’s life will be held at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, located at 11100 NE Skidmore Street, Portland, Oregon, on August 31st at 1:00 PM, with a reception to follow. The family invites donations in Nancy’s memory to St. Matthew’s Anglican Church as a tribute to her life and faith.
