Nancy Stone Obituary

Nancy Lee (Morris) Hinds Stone was born October 9, 1925, in Portland, to Esther Sholin and Jefferson Davis Morris. She attended Abernethy grade school and graduated from Washington High School.

In 1947, she married John O. Hinds and they had their sons, John D. and Gary E. Hinds. The couple divorced in 1980. She later married the love of her life, William “Bob” Robert Stone, who preceded her in death in 2009. They had 10 wonderful years together.

She was a member of the Riverside Golf and Country Club for 58 years. She loved playing golf, cards and traveling to her home in Palm Springs, California. She was an amazing and positive person who was an inspiration to many. She never met a stranger.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Gerry Lewis; and brother, Jeff Morris.

She is survived by her sons, John Hinds (Sharon) and Gary Hinds; grandchildren, JR Hinds (Jessica) and Kristen Hoover (Devin); and great-grandaughter, Hazel Hoover.

She was laid to rest in Riverview Abbey. There will be a celebration of life held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Riverside Golf Course, 8105 N.E. 33rd Drive, Portland, OR 97211.
