October 23, 1926 ~ June 14, 2012 (age 85)
Pat passed away peacefully on June 14th at the home of her daughter Kristin Kiely Pearson in Portland, Oregon. She is survived by her three children, Kim Schroeder (Kevin) of Sedalia, MO, Kris Pearson of Portland, OR and John Kiely (Deborah) of Los Gatos, CA and 6 grandchildren: Tricia Pearson, Kate Schroeder, Brianne Blackney, Kelsey Schroeder, Evan Kiely and Cameron Schroeder.
Pat led a varied and rich life, growing up on a cattle ranch south of Livingston, MT. She was the daughter of Raymond and Mary Shorthill. At the age of 19, during WWII, Pat worked as a VA administrator in Helena, MT. She then attended Montana State University (now UofM) in Missoula where she was active in the Delta Gamma sorority and graduated with a Business Administration degree in 1950. While at MSU, Pat met and married Jack Kiely in 1950. She and Jack made their home in Missoula for the next 60 years.
Pat was active within the St. Patrick hospital guild for many years then took up golf as a passion. She became part time secretary for the MT Angus beef association, which probably caused her father heartburn as he was a dedicated Hereford beef man.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Jack (in 2004) but during their time together they golfed and traveled extensively and she continued to do so with family including England, Ireland, and a paddle wheeler trip down the Mississippi. She is remembered and loved by her family and friends.
Family memorial services will be held at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests any memorials be made to a charitable organi
