Paul Kennedy Obituary

Paul David Kennedy was born in Oregon City, Oregon December, 10, 1943. He passed away unexpectedly on May 20, 2015 at the age of 71. Paul was the only son of Ray & Grace Kennedy, who preceded him in death.

Paul is survived by his wife Myra Kennedy of 28 years, his daughter Patricia Doyle, her husband Marshall along with their two children, Samantha & Alan and his son Michael Kennedy, his wife Teri and their sons Matthew & Nicholas. He is also survived by former wife Darlene Kenney-Hartley, mother of Patricia and Michael. His dogs were also an important part of his life and he is survived by his furry friends Rocky and Bella. All reside in Milwaukie, Oregon.

Paul graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1962. Paul was a member of DeMolay, a Masonic Organization, during the early sixties. He worked his entire career of 47 years with OECO Corporation in Milwaukie, working in many different departments, including his last position as an Account Executive. He retired in 2010. He was very proud to work for a company that provided components for NASA and the space program.

Paul enjoyed camping, fishing and working in the yard. He also loved to draw, especially cartoon characters for his children, and illustrated a book of memoirs for a friend. Paul was very involved in his son Mike’s childhood sports of soccer and hockey, including coaching. Paul inspired Mike’s love for sports. Paul also loved watching the Trailblazers play basketball and sharing that passion with his daughter, son and wife who are all avid Blazer fans. (Rip City!)

Paul’s main obsession was his 1960 Ford Thunderbird. He purchased it in 1986 from the Auto Trader magazine and spent the past 20 some years putting his heart, soul, and money into its restoration. Paul won many awards at cruise-ins every summer and was thrilled to win Best of Class at the Forest Grove Concourse d’ Elegance in 2013. He made many great friends in the car show world over the years.

Paul was also an avid collector of nostalgia memorabilia, especially of Marilyn Monroe and Coca Cola. Some of his great finds were original, signed, hand drawn pictures of Marilyn and original Life magazines with her on the cover. He also collected Franklin Mint & Danbury Mint small scale cars. Paul and Myra spent their spare time hunting for the “perfect find” of great memorabilia.

He will be greatly missed by all of his loved ones and many, many friends.

I have lost a long time friend who I have know since our school days at Milwaukie High School. Some of our best times together was going to Buckaroo Hockey games, playing basketball and softball, or just being together.

We worked with Paul for many, many years. He was a great friend and a great Account Manager. Paul was kind and went out of his way to help, mentor and guide others. He will be missed!

Rest in peace Paul. You will be missed by all. Enjoyed working with you all those years at OECO.

Hey buddy we didn’t make it to another Winterhawks hockey game. I only got to work with you for 14 years, and I can remember nearly every day. Save a space for me in the new happy spot that you are in. What a shame that the good Lord called you home so soon. Peace be with you.

There is definite sadness in Paul’s passing, but smiles and chuckles when reflecting back on times shared.

Paul will always be thought of with happy memories.

So….Pauly, Pauly, Pauly
RIP my friend,
Ricky, Ricky, Ricky

I left OECO in 1995, but Paul was a very memorable and fun person to work with. I saw him and Myra at Mike’s Drive In car show a few years later. They were having a blast. I’m sorry he had to leave us so early.

Many years ago Paul commissioned my shop to help complete his vision of having the most beautiful 1960 Thunderbird possible. It wasn’t long before the business relationship turned into a friendship. We had a mutual understanding of the term “attention to detail”.
When I think of Paul, I envision him cruising in his beautiful “Red Chariot”. Sitting low and comfortable, left elbow hanging slightly out the window with an all knowing satisfied look from having the coolest ride on the Boulevard and nothing but “blue skies and green lights” in front of him. The perfect summer day. Paul was my friend and I will miss him.
R.I.P. Paul.

So sorry to hear about Paul passing. I remember Paul well from my OECO days and then the annual lunches. Great guy! Best wishes to Myra and the rest of the family.

I met Paul at the S.E. Hawthorne location of OECO in 1983 and worked with him closely when I transferred to the Sales Dept. a few years later. Paul was kind, helpful and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed by many. My condolences to Myra and the family.

My condolences to the family. May the peace God gives sustain your family at this difficult time. Lean on one another, share your memories, they will be a source of joy. Seeing the promises in God’s word, the Bible, will help you to gain strength, fortify and comfort you. Revelation 21:4 and Isaiah 25:8 are two that comfort me at such grievous times.

I am so saddened to hear about the loss of such a dear friend. Paul and I had some great times at OECO (I was his secretary for a few years). He had so much energy, motivation, love for life, and especially love for his wife Myra and of course, OECO !! I cherished his friendship and kept in touch with him since I left OECO in 1995 (last 20 years). He stood by me 100% during some difficult times in my life and for that I am forever grateful ~ I will miss Paul so much !! I know he is in a better place now so my prayers and thoughts are with Myra at this time. We have talked recently and shared the good times ~ I pray to God, asking him to guide Myra during this difficult time and give her the strength, courage, faith, and love to move forward in life ~ I am so sorry. Your a great man Paul Kennedy !! Love and Hugs sent to you in heaven 🙂

Myra, we were shocked to hear about Paul’s passing and send you our condolences. I enjoyed working with Paul all my OECO years and seeing you both at auto shows. Our best and the family.
