Polly’s parents were “show biz” all the way. Her father was a noted composer and her mother a singer and dancer. From their home in L.A. they traveled all over the U.S. performing in many cities, including New York and Las Vegas. Polly and Harriett went along for the exciting ride as children, being tutored in both academics and entertainment along the way.
Polly’s family spent considerable time in Portland and owned a house in Surf Pines, Oregon, because this southern California family loved the northwest. Polly’s parents performed in Portland at various local venues.
Polly was introduced to Harvey Dick, Jr. and they were married in 1956 in Portland, where they started a family.
Polly was never far removed from her entertainment roots, even in provincial Portland, where she was the leading lady singer and dancer in many Junior League shows. She was also a stellar bridge player.
Polly married William “Nick” Merriman in 1980. They lived happily together for over thirty years.
Polly is survived by her husband, Nick; children, Paul, Carroll, Chris, Cathy and Michael; and five grandchildren, all of whom love her and will miss her very much.

Polly was the light of my life. The person I confided in every day. She will be missed forever, I know I will see her again in the next life.
We are so sorry for your tragic loss. Polly was great fun to be around. We didn’t see her and Nick often, but always enjoyed their company.
