Biography

Richard A. Howard,74, was born November 4, 1938. Richard A. Howard “Dick” died unexpectedly of a stroke on January 1, 2013. Dick was born in Heppner and moved to Portland at age 5 with his parents, George and Esther, and sister, Patricia.

He graduated from Grant High School and earned his degree from Clark College. He worked as a service technician for 3M.

In 1970, he married Paulette Watson and raised one son, David. In 1996, Dick married Colleen Tranch.

Dick was a member of the Elks Throttle Kings, and the Horseless Carriage.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen; sister, Pat; son, David; three stepchildren, Linda, Rob and Kim; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Elks Lodge in Milwaukie (13121 SE McLoughlin, Blvd.) on January 8, from 2-4. In lieu of flowers, donations to Doernbecher’s Children’s Hospital.
