Richard Allan Rix passed away peacefully on May 11, 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Dorsey Rix; his three daughters, Melanie Luvall (Jeff), Melissa Young (Robert), and Cyndi Salemy (Steve); and his seven grandchildren, Jenna, Chandler, Cameron, Colin, Julianne, Caroline, and Jennifer. Richard’s family was the joy of his life.
Richard was born in Manning, Iowa on May 6, 1935 and maintained lifelong close ties to his childhood friends and hometown. He graduated from the University of Iowa, and received his M.B.A. in Hospital Administration from Cornell University.
Richard’s career focused on healthcare management and he worked in New York, Iowa, and Oregon. Richard volunteered for many nonprofit organizations and he was an avid photographer and Trailblazer fan. He loved all sports especially racquetball, tennis and golf.
A memorial service for Richard will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Portland, June 30 at 2 p.m.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff of the Memory Care unit at Regency Park, who took loving care of Richard.
