Richard Kram Obituary

Richard Kram 4/14/1936-2/5/23

Richard was born on April 14, 1936, in Seattle, WA to Sam and Marie Kram. He grew up in Northeast Portland and lived his entire life in the Portland area. He married Janet Gill in 1964, and raised three daughters, Laura (John) Devlin of Bainbridge Island, WA, Kathy Collins of Rancho Mirage, CA, and Mary Beth (Charley) Clements of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was a business owner for over 20 years, and a salesman in the dry cleaning industry. Dick enjoyed spending time on the Oregon Coast, being with his grandchildren, family gatherings, maintaining the yard, riding off road motorcycles, tinkering in his garage, auto racing, jazz music, warm sunshine, and sharing a beer with friends. He had an easy going, accepting, and friendly manner that made a huge impression on his many friends, neighbors, nieces, nephews, and his beloved daughters and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Janet, his brother, Jerry Kram, his three daughters, grandchildren Maddy, Caroline, and John (Jack) Devlin, Andy and Ellie Collins, and Paige and Tia Clements, and his many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Mary Dinges. Our family would like to thank the staff at The Springs in Sherwood for caring for him in his final years. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.fdn.org. A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at a later date. Please visit the guestbook portion of this site and enter a special memory or message. Thank you.

Uncle Dick has been a sparkle of life to me since I first remember him. He was always funny, laughing, hugging and telling stories. He made a big impression on me. Even during later years when times were hard, he was always quick with his wonderful hugs.

I know his family meant the world to him. I wish you lots of love and support during this sad time.

Uncle Dick made this earth a better place during his time on it and I’m so glad I knew him.

With love,
Grace, Uncle Dick’s niece

I am so sad to hear of Dick’s passing. To Mary Beth and all the family, I am so sorry for your loss, and I will keep you in my prayers, at this difficult time. Don Houston
