July 1, 1948 ~ October 2, 2020 (age 72)
Rose Agnes Rankin, age 72, died on Friday, October 2, 2020 at home with her loving husband Richard Rankin, Daughter Michele Hanna and Granddaughter Hanna Rose Hanna at her side. Rose fought a Diagnosis of FTD Dementia for 3 years before God called her home.
She was born Rose Agnes Dennis on July 1, 1948 in Toledo, Ohio. Rose came from a mid-west Catholic farming family. She was the only daughter to William Dennis and Agnes Dennis. Rose had 5 brothers, including two sets of twins. Rose graduated from Rogers High School in 1966. She was introduced to her husband Richard by good friend Gale Wagner. Richard and Rose then moved to California to start a life together. Richard’s two children from a previous marriage Richard C Rankin Jr. and Juli Ann Rankin joined shortly thereafter. Rose loved raising her two stepchildren and on October 2nd of 1977 she had her first child Michele Lynn Rankin. Son, David William Rankin, followed 4 years later on August 4, 1981. Rick and Rose raised their children in Danville, California for 30 years. She loved watching her daughter dance and her son play baseball. She also enjoyed the Oakland A’s baseball team and Forty Niner football. Rose also worked for State Farm Insurance in Danville for 23 years.
In 2005 Rick and Rose followed their daughter Michele Hanna to Lake Oswego, Oregon to be closer to their granddaughter Hanna Rose Hanna. Living in Oregon, Rose got to help raise her grandchildren Hanna Rose(16), KJ(8), and Zoe(6). In 2010 their son David and his wife Victoria Rankin followed them to Oregon. Rose got to see and hold her most recent grandchild, Rory Rocket Rankin(15mo.) before her passing. It was one of Rose’s great dreams to see all her children have babies.
Before Rose became ill, she enjoyed Blazers games, spending time with her grandchildren, reading, and doing puzzles.
Rose was the best Wife, Mother and Nana anyone could ever ask for.
Rose is survived by her loving husband and caregiver. Brothers: Don, Duane and Wayne. Children: Rick Rankin, Juli Rankin, Michele Hanna, and David Rankin. Grandchildren: Sarah Rankin(24), Macie Mancini(20), Tanzie Mancini(16), Hanna Rose Hanna(16), KJ Hanna(8), Zoe Hanna(6), and Rory Rocket Rankin(15mo.). As well as all of her 7 nieces and 7 nephews.

I have been fortunate enough to have Rose as my sister-in-law for over 40 years. She came into my brothers life, healed his broken heart after a nasty divorce, and took on the role of step mom to his two young children. She had no children of her own, but stepped into this role as if she had done this for years. I admired her honest, kind, and gentle nature. She will be very missed by all that we’re blessed enough to know her. Rest In Peace dear Rose.

Some 25 years ago we met watching the guys & their boys playing baseball. Rose was kind and positive as she cheered on the team. Our hearts are full of love for the Rankin Family.
