February 12, 1925 ~ September 2, 2015 (age 90)
Sam was born in the small town of Clifton. He moved to Portland at the age of 13. Sam served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and returned to Portland where he met and married his wife, Sophie. Sam joined the Portland Fire Department and retired from there after 30 years. He loved spending time with his family.
Sam is survived by his daughters, Helen and Don Scoville, Joanne Hafdahl, and Chris and Jim Primmer; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Sam was predeceased by his wife, Sophie; and granddaughter, Melissa.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 3131 NE Glisan Street, Portland, with interment in Willamette National Cemetery.
