Samuel Conratt Obituary

Samuel Andrew Conratt passed away in his Portland home at the age of 82 on February 5, 2014.

A native of Portland, Sam was born on Nov. 30, 1931, to Robert and Pauline Conratt. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and the University of Portland.

Sam married Maria Vukovich in 1963 and worked for the state of Oregon for more than 30 years, managing the Fuels Tax Branch of the Department of Transportation, before retiring in 1994.

Sam was an avid golfer and card player but, more than anything, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His warm personality and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Catherine; and grandson, Anthony.

He is survived by his wife; son, Robert (Linda); daughter, Laurie (Jon Polaha); and grandsons, Derek, Michael and Calder.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014, at All Saints Catholic Church, Portland.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to Blanchet House of Hospitality or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

One reply on “Samuel Conratt”

I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose a loved one no matter what their age may be. However, try to think of the joy that will be when God will “wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more” (Revelation 21:4) and then we will be able to enjoy countless generations. Again, please accept my sincere condolences.
