July 6, 1981 ~ December 23, 2023 (age 42)
Samuel Watson Eastman passed away unexpectedly on December 23, 2023 at the age of 42 while visiting his parents in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Sam is survived by his parents, John and Loretta Eastman, his brother Andrew Eastman of Los Angeles, CA, and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Sam was born and raised in Lake Oswego, graduating in 1999 from Lakeridge High School. Sam was always full of drive and energy, and loved the camaraderie of sports and myriad friendships. The family would like to thank all the teachers and coaches who nurtured and inspired Sam, allowing him to thrive and excel.
From his earliest years Sam loved the Oregon Ducks, so when the time came to choose a college, the University of Oregon was at the top of his list. At the U of O he pledged Kappa Sigma and found lifelong brothers who remained an integral part of his life. During his years at U of O he studied abroad, receiving a Certificate in International Studies and Business Analysis at the Consortium International University in Paderno del Grappa, Italy. The experience of studying abroad ignited a passion for travel that led him on multiple trips to Africa, South America, Central America, and Europe.
In 2003 he graduated from the University of Oregon with dual B.S. degrees in Business and Political Science and commenced studying law at the University of San Diego, earning a JD and LL.M. in Taxation in 2006. After passing the bar he went to work for Price Waterhouse Coopers in San Francisco as a tax attorney in mergers and acquisitions. While in San Francisco he gave generously of his time as a volunteer for Big Brothers of America.
In 2010 he fell in love with Austin, Texas and decided to leave San Francisco behind and strike out on his own. Austin remained his home for the rest of his life. Within a few years he had established the Eastman Law Firm. He was a member of the Texas, California, and Oregon Bar Associations.
Sam was funny, generous, and had a big heart. He loved and was loved by his family and his many friends. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at one p.m. at the Oswego Hills Winery, 450 Rosemont Road, West Linn, Oregon.
