Steven Anderson Obituary

Steven P. Anderson (Steve) passed away on December 5, 2016 in Portland, Oregon at the age of 52. He leaves his loving wife, Julie A. Anderson of Portland, Oregon; his sons Joshua Walters of Keizer, Oregon; Michael Walters of Brainerd, Minnesota; and Steven Brett Anderson of Savannah, Georgia; his stepsons, Randall (Michelle) Talley of New Bern North Carolina; and Matthew (Carly)Talley of Macon, Georgia; his stepdaughter Ashley Clements of Seattle, Washington; brothers Richard (Karen) Anderson of Staples, Minnesota; and Robert (Carol) Anderson of Fort Ripley, Minnesota; sisters Lynda (David) Laechel of Rochester, Minnesota and Susan Albertson of Brainerd, Minnesota; his grandchildren Jacob, Faith, Wesley, Jayce, Alyssa, Braxton, Emily, Madeline and Cassandra. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Evelyn Anderson.

Steve was a graduate of Brainerd High School in Brainerd, Minnesota. Following High School he served in the US Army from 1985 – 1993. He was deployed to Kuwait as part of Operation Desert Storm and was awarded, among others, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the Humanitarian Service Medal.

Steve was a man of many talents, including carpentry, machinery, and construction management that spanned his careers in Minnesota, Georgia, Florida and Oregon. He leaves behind many friends and associates at The Home Depot in Beaverton, Oregon.

Steve loved nothing better than a good home project, especially those outside where he could make that perfect spot to enjoy his family and friends as the “king of the smoker.” He was a devoted outdoorsman and enjoyed the camaraderie and challenge of hunting, especially when he moved to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Steve never met a stranger and spent many happy hours touring on his Harley Davidson with his wife Julie.

Steve was anchored by his faith in His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His life was guided by John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” He will be deeply missed by all those he touched.

Family will receive friends on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 9:00 to 10:30 am, followed by a 10:30 am funeral service, both to be held at the Riverview Abbey Funeral Home, 0319 SW Taylors Ferry Road, Portland, Oregon 97219. Steve was a great friend in which I had the pleasure to work with. I will miss his encouraging words and laughter in Monday staff meetings, I will miss his excitement when he would have potlucks….he couldn’t wait for the opportunity to cook for his co-workers.
I can say pork sliders will not taste the same. Steve will be missed but never forgotten. RIP my friend…

I am so sorry for your loss. May the ‘God of all comfort’ be with you during this difficult time. I have personally found comfort in the promise at 1 Corinthians 15:26 where it states that very soon ‘death will be brought to nothing’. Then, we have the prospect of being reunited with our our loved ones right here on earth (John 5:28,29). I truly hope this brings you comfort and hope. With deepest sympathies, Gwen and family.

Julie, my deepest sympathy is with you and your family at this very sad and difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Julie I am so sorry for your loss. Never in a million years did I think of you as anything but being so incredibly happy to be married to your wonderful husband. I was so happy for you when I learned you had remarried. I wish I could hug you right now. I am so very sorry.

Julie, We pray the love you feel from your friends and family somehow lessons your pain.

In Faith and Sympathy,
Paige and Erik Blechinger

Steve was quite the man! He was honest, sincere, caring, loved to make people smile and, and a bit mischievous. He took on the task of cooking and buying the “fixins” for the home depot employees with small donations from everyone else. He didnt mind he loved doing it. Outside over the bar b q in the sweltering heat without a beer no less. He was dedicated to his job and talked fondly of Julie. This is going to be hard for anyone who knew this very giving man. Respect for the country and the flag was all part of him. Heaven has gained a truly great man.

Julie, Although I never met Steve, it’s apparent he was a good man and loved his family. Our prayers are with you at this very difficult time. God bless you, Steve and your entire family.

Julie, I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope your beautiful memories with Steve will help ease the pain in time.

I was fortunate to have worked side by side with Steve for the last nine months. I came to know a man who was proud, funny, hardworking, and kind. We worked long, hard hours together and got to know each other pretty well. I took comfort in that which he said many times; “I got your back.” He will be missed.
To Julie and the family, I hope you find peace.

May God carry you through this difficult time.

Julie, My heart grieves for you at the loss of your best friend, your beloved Steve. I rejoice with you that He is now with our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ. Please know that you are surrounded in prayer. I love you so much. Cheryl

My thoughts are with the entire family at this dreadful time. I hope you all find comfort and strength from each other, and try to remember a happier time you all shared with Steven to ease some of the pain.
