Takae Okazaki Obituary

Takae Okazaki passed away peacefully April 13, 2018. She was born in Gresham, and graduated from Lincoln High School. Takae and her family were interned in Minidoka Relocation Camp in Idaho when she was accepted to nursing school. She traveled to Chicago, where she graduated from Walter Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
In 1945, Takae married Toshio Okazaki, who was in the U.S. Army. After the war, they returned to Oregon and joined the family farm. Takae worked on the farm, but during the winter, she worked as a nurse at Providence Hospital on the night shift. Toshio preceded her in death in 2004.
Takae enjoyed playing golf, bowling, playing bridge and poker and going to Spirit Mountain with her many good friends.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Tashima, Steve (Linda) Okazaki and Sheri Okazaki; grandchildren, Angie Tashima, Kellie Tashima (Marc Scarpa) and Elise (Chris) Wyrosteck; great-grandchildren, Harper Tofte and Madelyn Wyrosteck; and many special nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 1333 S.E. 28th Avenue, Portland, OR 97214.
Donations may be made to Epworth or Ikoi no Kai Lunch Program at the Epworth address.
