Thomas Sullivan Obituary

Thomas D. Sullivan March 10, 1921 – February 25, 2012Thomas D. Sullivan passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012. He was 91. He was born in Portland on March 10, 1921.

Tom graduated from Columbia Prep in 1938 and the University of Portland in 1946. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He enjoyed a long professional career in the grain business in the Pacific Northwest.

After retirement in 1986, he and his wife traveled the world, often by freighter. They lived for many years in Lake Oswego.

A man of generous spirit with a mischievous sense of humor, he was much beloved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Brosnan Sullivan and his children, T. Dennis Sullivan and his wife, Susan of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mary K. Lally and her husband, Brian of Canby, William J. Sullivan of Beaverton and James P. Sullivan and his wife, Missy of Overland Park, Kan. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, David, Steven, Michael, Riley, Anna and Marlena.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 4112 SW 6th Ave. in Portland on Saturday, March 10 at 10 a.m.
