October 19, 1960 ~ May 6, 2020 (age 59)
Thomas (Tom) Barwick passed away at the age of 59 on May 6th, 2020 in Happy Valley, Oregon. He was a loving husband and a true soul mate to Anne. Tom was born in October 1960 in Victorville, California. He grew up in Portland with his mom Karen and sister Cindy. Growing up he loved playing sports with his best friend Greg, including little league baseball and basketball. He graduated from Madison High School in 1978. While working at Elmer’s Restaurant as a cook, Tom met and fell in love with a hostess named Anne. Anne and Tom dated for 2 years before marrying on July 10th, 1982. Anne and Tom married at Columbia Edgewater Golf Club in Portland, Oregon. They had many wonderful adventures together, including working at Honey Baked Hams and raising two sons Justin and Joshua. After Joshua was born, Tom went to work with his in-laws at Sheridan Fruit Company. His daily schedule had him working 7 days a week starting at 5am, but he never complained. Tom loved Sheridan and the employees that worked there. Together Tom & his father-in-law Vince grew Sheridan Fruit into a premier wholesale and retail store in the Portland area. Tom was the vice-president and general manager of Sheridan Fruit Co. Tom and his family attended St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Portland, and served in many different capacities. Tom was a devoted father, coaching sports for his sons. He instilled a hard work ethic and passion for sports that continues to this day. Tom loved watching the Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle Seahawks, as well as other sports teams. Having lunch with his friend Hank was a bright spot during the work week. His big joy was going to Sunriver with his family every year and enjoying Central Oregon. In 2019, his first grandson was born and Tom was over the moon. He was a very devoted Pappi to Moses. Tom was also an avid dog and animal lover. Tom was preceded in death by his mother Karen. Tom is survived by his wife Anne, sister Cindy, sons Justin (Caiti) and Joshua (Sachia) grandson Moses and nephews Derrick and Alexander. A celebration of life will occur at a later date when it is safe for everyone to do so. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Tom’s name to the Oregon Humane Society. Private Entombment was held at River Abbey Mausoleum in Portland Or
