March 19, 1956 ~ September 23, 2017 (age 61)
Timothy Jerre Parks passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 23, 2017 with his wife Annette at his side following a battle with hepatorenal failure. He was 61.
Tim was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and remained a lifelong resident of this fair city. After attending Ainsworth Grade School and Lincoln High School, he began his career as a framer and remained in that capacity until his illness no longer allowed him to continue. In his younger years, Tim was active in many sports, including baseball, soccer and softball. Hotly contested games of Ping Pong and pool were the norm in the family household. He learned to play golf at a young age, walking the fairways of Hoyt Park and Neskowin Beach Golf Course, and he continued to play throughout his adult life. He was a big fan of the Trailblazers and the Winterhawks, attending countless games at Memorial Coliseum and the Rose Garden. Tim was a lifelong animal lover, as he and his siblings grew up around a virtual menagerie of pets including dogs, cats, ducks, geese, rats, squirrels as well as a chicken, parrot, rabbit, pigeon, skunk and monkey. The other residents of Mt. Adams Drive were probably thrilled when the family moved away from the street.
Tim was preceded in death by his mother Dorothie, his father Alex, and stepdaughter Jackie.
He is survived by his wife Annette; sisters Penelope and Kimberly; brothers Douglas and Christopher; stepdaughters Carolina, Behe and Constance; stepson Xavier; and their respective families, as well as a host of beloved cats and dogs.
Those that knew Tim were drawn to him by his deep, booming voice and his quick wit. At times rather irreverent, Tim left no doubt as to where he stood on any particular issue. He was a “one-of-a-kind” individual and his family and friends will miss him.
There will be no service. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Oregon Humane Society.
