Tracy Alan Webber

September 6, 1960 – January 8, 2023

Tracy Webber of Houston, Texas and Portland, Oregon passed away unexpectedly on January 8, 2023.

Born on September 6, 1960, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Floyd and Ramona Webber.

Tracy and Don shared a life together for 24 years and recently celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary.

While living in Houston, Tracy’s many friendships became family. He loved to travel and when they moved to Portland, he enjoyed biking and exploring the abundant beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Tracy and Don maintained longtime friendships with many exceptional people they met during their time in Houston and San Antonio and wonderful new friendships in Portland.

His knowledge and work ethic was personified in his IT career and other endeavors which all served as his catalyst for his career in Portland.

In early 2020, Tracy realized his long-time dream of opening an ice cream store, The Village Ice Cream Factory in Portland, Oregon. At a time when many would have hesitated to open a small business during a pandemic, Tracy and Don went in full speed and managed to open an incredible handcrafted ice cream store in the Multnomah Village neighborhood that has become a popular destination for the entire community.

Friends and family were the cornerstones of Tracy’s life. He was a warm, funny and exceptionally kindhearted person and blessed all of us with his quick wit, warm compassion and genuine love. Tracy was loved by everyone he met and knew and it was reciprocated. Tracy was a wonderful husband, brother, colleague and friend and will be deeply missed and forever treasured in our hearts.

He is survived by his beloved husband of 9 years, Don Webber, furbabies Lily and Dakota, sisters Sherry, Holly, and Kelley, brothers Barry, Lindsey (Scott) and Terry, sisters-in-law Donna and Denise, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.

Before Tracy and Don had even moved to Portland we were told of their arrival by our mutual friend Cesar – he told us what amazing people they were and how well we would get along. Those words were but a small glimpse of the truth. Tracy and Don immediately became part of our inner circle – sharing fun and laughter, music and drinks – and despite being a picky eater, a topic of never ending amusement as we would goad him about the ‘weird’ things we were eating – the food Tracy prepared and brought to potlucks, BBQs or our Friendsgiving meal was always delicious! We held a homemade ice cream contest every year – which Tracy was very excited to learn about the first year they were in Portland… the one time he would eat everything people made! After becoming ice cream professionals – they graciously bowed out of the competition – but offered up the opportunity for the winner’s ice cream to be crafted at The Village Ice Cream Factory and proceeds from the sale of that flavor to go to a charitable organization of the winner’s choice. That gesture epitomized Tracy’s heart and soul – loving and caring and generous. Plus, all of fur babies loved Tracy – and you know the animals know good people.
Our hearts are broken with Don and all of those who loved Tracy. We grieve with you and love you.

Tracy was such a nice man and made instant friends of anyone who would let him. He was kind and funny. He gave great hugs. He loved Don. He was my friend and I will miss him terribly.
