June 17, 1920 ~ August 6, 2014 (age 94)
Vito was 94 years old when he died suddenly after being taken to the hospital of kidney and heart failure.
Vito was born to Giuseppe Peragine and Elvira De Simini in Bari, Italy and immigrated to New York at the age of eight.
In High School Vito’s father became very ill and died. Because Vito was the oldest child, he took over the family business of hand delivering 25 pound ice and coal bricks. He would carry the heavy bricks up and down up to five flights of stairs for several years until the family moved out west to Portland.
Vito then went on to work at Leonetti’s Furniture for decades as an upholsterer. Vito was very outgoing and friendly, always making friends.
He leaves behind his son John Peragine, brother Johnny Peragine, brother Tony Peragine, granddaughter Carla Castaño Peragine, grandson Giovan Skyler Peragine and great grandson Giovanni Rocco Peragine.
You can still show your support by sending flowers directly to the family, or by planting a memorial tree in the memory of Vito Peragine

One reply on “Vito Peragine”
Dear John, Tony, Johnny Joe, Carla, Skyler and Rocco,
We were so deeply saddened to learn of Vito’s passing.
We know it had been tough for him lately, and in a sense we hope that for him to be able to go at a time of his own choosing after a long and joyful life was a bit of a blessing we should all be so fortunate to have when it is our turn to join him and Elvira.
We’ve never seen this picture of him before (the one on the funeral home website) but it’s a good picture that allows people to see the kindness in him.
We are both disappointed that we will not be albe to attend the service on the 18th, both because of Toni’s work (she doesn’t get off during the summer like the teachers do) and Sam has an important appointment with the doctor. But please know that we are, and will continue to be, with you in spirit.
Hope to see you all soon.
Love,
Toni and Sam
