Walter Choruby Obituary
CHORUBY, Walter August

1931 – 2022

“Wally”

Walter August Choruby succumbed to cancer on June 9, 2022. Wally was one of God’s greatest creations. He was born to Walter L. Choruby and Anna M. Choruby, and raised in SW Portland, in Multnomah Village.

Wally loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with a passion. He also loved dogs, playing pool, and dancing. He was a very charitable man, giving to several causes monthly. Wally always loved a good cocktail.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, 790 A Avenue, Lake Oswego, OR, on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 11AM. A Reception at Our Lady of the Lake will follow the Mass. A Graveside Committal will be held following the reception at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 17201 Stafford Road, Lake Oswego, OR.

Wally was my big brother – there to support us. He always said I love you at the end of a phone call. Mike remembers him as a big brother also & an elder statesman. Joe remembers his sense of humor & ability to write well using that humor. One Sunday when he joined us at breakfast on a Fathers Day, it was time to leave & he said with a dry humor – I have to get home so my kids can pay homage to me.
We love you Wally. Youre with your beloved Charleen now flying with the angels. Condolences to your family & all who grieve. Love you – your sister – – Cheri

I will always remember Uncle Wally as kind and generous. Every year growing up my family (my mom, Cheri, my Dad, Mike, and sisters, Rachel and Karen) would go up to “Wally’s Cabin” with family on my Dad’s side (Aunt Fran, Uncle Jack, and cousins Doug and Chris). We LOVED these vacations, and my cousins Doug and Chris even got to calling it “Uncle Wally’s cabin”, too. I always admired the way Uncle Wally could tell a story, and speak in front of crowds, and tell a joke, and have aspired in my career to be able to do all of these things even as I am presenting to audiences about scientific and technical topics.
My deepest condolences to all of my cousins (Larry, Char, Pat, Tennise, and Paul) and to my aunt and uncles (Larry, Petrice, and Dick), to my Mom and Dad (Cheri and Mike) and all of the extended family who will miss him. I am sorry I cannot be there tomorrow in person, but family considerations keep me away.
I love you Uncle Wally, and will miss you.

i was recently made aware of Walt passing. I recall Walt doing volunteer taxes for the community there in the Multnomah area. I believe I was a district coordinator for the program and honored Walt with a 25 or 30 year pin for his outstanding service and the many years he volunteered.
